EarthCrete™ is a family of concrete mixes all composed of proprietary formulas using a blend of local, natural, raw pozzolans, industrial waste ceramics and fly ash, milled at our processing facility for up to 30% Portland cement replacement.
By-products of this proprietary blend are used as concrete aggregate in place of delta sand and river rock eliminating our impact on local waterways and making it possible for some of our blends to have as much as 80% industrial waste components.
EarthCrete™ formulas vary according to performance required for specific applications. SonomaLite™, an EarthCrete™ product engineered for wall cladding and architectural surrounds in addition to the above mentioned EarthCrete™ components, uses industrial waste cellulose fibers and variable amounts of air entrainment to achieve weights that are less than half of conventional concrete for an even smaller carbon foot print.
EarthCrete™ is also an evolving concept. The worst offender in the concrete recipe is Portland cement. The manufacturing of Portland cement requires temperatures of 3000 degrees in its calcinations process, giving it the single largest carbon foot print of any product in the world.
EarthCrete™ development is pursuing the patent process on a cement technology that does not require this very costly calcination process that will eliminate the largest part of the concrete carbon footprint. |
